ATCA® Pins

ATCA® Pins refer to specific types of alignment and guide pins used in AdvancedTCA® (ATCA) systems — a standardized platform defined by the PICMG (PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group) for high-performance, high-availability telecommunications and networking equipment. ATCA® (Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture) is commonly used in server, datacom, and telecom applications where modularity, robustness, and serviceability are essential.
ATCA® pins are mechanical hardware components, typically press-fit guide or alignment pins, designed to:
- Ensure precise mating of circuit boards (e.g., blades or boards) into backplanes within ATCA chassis.
- Provide repeatable alignment during hot-swapping or servicing.
- Prevent connector damage by absorbing the mechanical guidance role before electrical contacts engage.
Commonly used:
- Server blades sliding into backplanes
- Switch or control boards in ATCA shelves
- High-speed fabric interface modules
- Redundant power or management modules
