Since 2020, Jose Mayagoitia has worked with our product teams around the globe to help advance fastening solutions for the datacom and telecom markets.
What inspired your career path?
I’ve always been someone who enjoys problem solving, designing things, and doing hands-on mechanical work. These interests led me to study engineering in college and earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
What is your role at PennEngineering?
I joined PEM® in 2018 and recently moved from my Field Application Engineer role to Global Product Manager. In my time here, I’ve worked with different brands under the PennEngineering® family including microPEM® and Haeger®. And I’ve worked at both our east and west coast offices in the U.S. as well as at our European headquarters in Galway, Ireland
What do you consider the most important part of your role?
The most important activity I have is the opportunity to interact with my coworkers all around the world. It is a very dynamic and interesting role. I help define the submarkets we serve, oversee trends, perform market analysis, and foster our relationships with current and new customers.
Helping to support our teams and projects all around the globe ensures that we maintain a global vision for the work we do – from sales to marketing and beyond.
What’s the biggest challenge or achievement you’ve experienced during your time here?
We recently consulted with one of our biggest customers in Guadalajara, Mexico to discuss and assess their fastener installation needs for a new datacom project. Our extraordinary
multi-disciplinary team was able to collaborate with our customer and recommend a line of several Haeger® insertion machines with robotic arm automation. This solution gives them
the capabilities they need to successfully complete their new project and also take on future projects with increased productivity and efficiencies.
Is there a secret to staying innovative?
Being innovative is a necessity to having a product portfolio that offers versatile fastening solutions for many different industries. To maintain that innovation, it’s important to have an experienced team who is committed to addressing our customers’ needs by exploring new ideas and identifying new and improved ways to solve their challenges.
What excites you the most about the future of fastening solutions?
The fastening world is directly linked to innovative trends and technological advancements, which is very exciting. At PennEngineering®, we have a unique opportunity to help revolutionize the many markets we serve and continue to help our customers evolve.
